While we all know eating lots of fruit and vegetables is good for us, who here has heard of superfoods? No, they're not a gang of action heros - but an array of foods with genuine health benefits! They're not just your average health food, many are loaded with antioxidants which are rumoured to help your body fight off a variety of health conditions such as inflammation, heart disease and cancer.

So which superfoods should you be adding to your diet?

Blueberries
Blueberries are a great source of antioxidants, and the darker the berry the more loaded with goodness they are! Top off your morning granola and yoghurt with these delicious berries, add them to a fruit salad, or take some with you when you are on-the-go for a guilt-free snack. Kids love them too, and they're a great alternative to sugary treats on the playground.

Salmon
It’s the Omega-3 in salmon which gives this product its superfood status. These substances help combat the symptoms of heart disease, Alzheimer’s, depression, arthritis and memory loss.

Wild salmon is less fatty than the farmed variety, and this versatile fish can be cooked on the BBQ, steamed or grilled. With a such a short cooking time it makes for a quick and healthy dinner after a long day!



Beetroot
From salads to detox smoothies, the humble beetroot is a tasty, natural ingredient full of amazing health benefits. Experts say beetroot and beetroot juice is very useful as part of a balanced diet, and this tasty vegetable may also improve your blood pressure, boost exercise performance and might even reduce the risk of dementia.

Green Tea
Green tea contains the antioxidant, ECGC, and which studies show can help to lower cholestrol. Brewing a cup of green tea also means you don't need to add milk or sugar, and unlike regular tea it won't dehydrate you.
