Exercise on a shoestring
Are your jeans as tight as your purse strings this month? Are you feeling the pinch in your bank balance as well as your belt? Then this is the blog for you; we have put together five ways to exercise on a shoestring!
Skipping (pigtails optional)
If a gym membership is a February payday dream, then why not invest a one-off fee of £4.99 on a skipping rope. Not only can you pretend to be Rocky but also 10 minutes of skipping can have the same health benefits as a 45-minute run.
Miss the bus…on purpose
Why not try walking to work rather than catching public transport? If it is too far to walk the whole distance, get off a few stops early and walk the rest of the way.
We are not kidding; housework burns calories (especially if you blast the music up loud and dance around whilst you do it!). Did you know that hovering, dusting and mopping your kitchen floor can burn almost 200 calories each?
Our top tip to make the most out of your housework-out is to give yourself jobs where you have to often run up and down the stairs.
Meet your friends or family for a Sunday stroll, not only is the walk good for you but research suggests that healthy social bonds lessens stress levels and can even help you live longer! Don’t forget to have a laugh with them too as just 15 minutes of laughter a day will burn between 10 to 40 calories and make you feel fantastic.
YouTube to get YouFit
The Internet has a huge library of fitness videos, whether you want to do Yoga, Pilates or learn the full dance routine to dirty dancing, there will be a video for it! Just make sure you close the curtains so the neighbours can’t see you doing your best Davina impression.
